How to file a bug report

In order to fix a bug we need to reproduce it. Therefore, please describe the problem using as many words as possible. A report like: 'It gives me an error when I try to assemble 2 files'' won't help us much. Please send us AT LEAST the error message. We may contact you to ask additional information, especially the conditions to reproduce the bug.

If you are not using the latest version we will ask you to download and install the latest update before sending any additional information.

Automatic bug reports

In case of a crash, DNA Baser will automatically display a dialog asking your permission to send a bug report. The bug report contains the source code location where the crash appeared. Once we have this location there is a high chance that we can identify why the crash appeared and how to fix it.

If you entered your email address in DNA Baser BEFORE the crash, we will be able to contact you. Else, you will have to contact us (as soon as possible) and let us know that you sent a bug report to us recently.

Manual bug reports

In some situations you may want to report a program misbehavior. In this case please provide:

• The steps necessary how to reproduce the problem. If we can reproduce the problem in our computers the bug will be fixed in minutes. This is the best case scenario.
• Your system specifications (Windows version, amount of memory, your DNA Baser version, etc). You can use the 'System Information' tool (you can find it under "Info" menu) that we integrated in DNA Baser to get all this information at once.
• A screen shot of the problem or the exact error message. Hint: Press Control+C key while the error message box is focused. This will copy the message to clipboard.
• The sample files that generated the problem (if it is the case)
